So Long Self

I don't know how many of you might listen to Contempary Christian music out there. I listened to it a great deal when I was in Florence, but until last week, I hadn't found a station down here that actually comes in remotely clearly on my radio. Today I got my itunes working again, so I flip on Mercy Me.

Today Bro. Buddy talked about the proper view we should have of ourselves, in contrast of the self-esteem that the world says we need more of. One of the things he mentioned was the the old man and the new don't live in a truce, that it's an active war going on, every day. Then he went on to tell us that we have to make an active decision and work daily to put off the old man, and to follow that new nature. So when the song basically said the same thing in places I was very happy. I like those sorts of connections, in everyday life.

I think the songs pretty funny too, because the song is this happy jont about trying to get rid of the not so pretty side of us described in Romans 3. Plus the music video is just funny, cause they keep trying to lock their evil side in side rooms, and leave them. haha.

So Long Self by Mercy Me

Well if I come across a little bit distant
It's just because I am
Things just seem to feel a little bit different
You understand
Believe it or not but life is not apparently
About me anyways
But I have met the One who really is worthy
So let me say

Chorus:
So long, self
Well, it's been fun, but I have found somebody else
So long, self
There's just no room for two
So you are gonna have to move
So long, self
Don't take this wrong but you are wrong for me, farewell
Oh well, goodbye, don't cry
So long, self

Stop right there because I know what you're thinking
But no we can't be friends
And even though I know your heart is breaking
This has to end
And come to think of it the blame for all of this
Simply falls on me
For wanting something more in life than all of this
Can't you see

Don't feel so bad (don't feel so bad)
There'll be better days (there'll be better days)
Don't go away mad (but by all means)
Just go away, go away

That makes a really good theme song for today's sermon! I love it!

One of my fav contemporary christian artists is Chris Rice (Jim always calls him Chris Rock) :) But, I have noticed too that I cannot get the contemporary christian station anymore. I used to listen to it in Tampa, but it's too much static out here! :(

Their video is a funny way to present the subject.
