What was the best part of this past year?
For a few years, we were thinking about getting another dog, and Britt wanted a brother. So, we were looking for a boy dog. We kept looking at Huskies and Australian Shepherds. Momma decided on an Aussie. We found a breeder with puppies for sale. Britt decided on a black tri, but he was still deciding on a name. The names he was down to were Scout and Bandit. So, we went there and we got Scout. He was just a little smaller when we got him, but way heavier than Neela. When we held him he would nibble and lick our ears. He had a white spot where his collar would be shaped like a bandana. When we went to bed, Scout was noisy, very noisy. He wasn't use to being by himself, he had 10 brothers and sisters. So next morning, we got Scout out and after about an hour, Britt decided he should be Scout because he sniffed around and scouted out the place.
Scout is super cuddly and big and super, super fluffy. He is silly and flops on his back when he wants you to scratch his belly. When he meets a dog he says hello by jumping on their heads, then he runs and runs and runs with them and rolling over. He loves to run after balls. One time, he ran to the ball and ran back, but he forgot to grab it. Sometimes he grabs the ball but forgets to bring it back. Sometimes he grabs the ball and then drops it before he gets back. He's not really good at fetching yet. Getting Scout was the best part of last year.

Britt has the same look on his face in this picture that Gary does. Like they are in deep thought... (above: Gary sometime spring or early summer 1980, not yet a year old. below: Britt on Thanksgiving 10 mons old.)
These two pictures are really where I see the most similarities, and I really can't get over how alike they are in these pictures. Those same ears sticking out, same squished up eyes, same nose, same crazy hair. (above: Gary's 1 year pictures. below: Britt at 11 months)
Even though there is a big age difference in these photos. I think it's funny just how excited they both are. Gary with making a mess and Britt with babbling/yelling at the top of his lungs. Even in these pictures there are alot of similarities in my opinion. (above: Gary end of 1980, probably around 18 months. below: Britt at 9 1/2 months)
This year was my first Mother's Day, and don't you know we didn't take but one lousy picture and this one was it. It was pouring before Church and afterward Britt was asleep for awhile. To top it all off, I was sick. We didn't end up taking a picture until much later in the day.

(Above: Mother, Daddy, and me at 4 months old) I have been blessed with some great parents, and now that I'm a parent I just hope that I can be half of the parent to Britt that they have been for me. They gave me many oppertunities. They were one of the rare parents who could help me with all of my school work: Mother was always willing to look over my papers for grammer and spelling and even in college I could call Daddy for help working a math problem over the phone. They encouraged to do things in the community: I volunteered at the local library for 5 summers or more. They encouraged me develop my talents, I was able to take art lessons for several years and they sacrificed time and money. They tried to encourage me to be a bit more athletic, though that never took so well: Daddy spent alot of time teaching me to catch pop-flies (I was so rotten at that) and Mother didn't miss a single game. Later in High School, they went all over the state for Cross Country meets. Most importantly, unlike some of the parents of my friends, they were there for me. I don't spose I really appreciated it, but looking back I never had to wonder if I was loved. I hope one of these days, maybe Britt will be able to say, even though I had too many rules, nagged, and drove him crazy, that his Momma undoubtable loved him.
