Joshua Aaron arrived bright and early this morning on his due date, Monday, November 17, 2008 at 5:01 AM. He weighs 7 lbs. 4 oz. and is 20 in. long. He has a head full of black hair, and he looks an aweful lot like Jim!
On Saturday evening they tried a cervidil on Kelly to induce. However on Sunday, she was not dialated, her cervix was closed and she was only 50% effaced, so they started her on Pitocin at 8 am. At 10:30 AM, her water broke on its own. She was having steady contractions and was 1 cm dialated. She progressed slowly and was only at 2 cm at 5 pm, so they were nice and went ahead and let her have her epidural. We saw her briefly around 8:30 and she was tired but making progress, and up to 6 cm. She made it all the way to 10 cm sometime around midnight on Sunday night/Monday morning. She pushed for 3 hours but Joshua wasn't coming down, so the doctor decided on a c-section.
Kelly, Jim, and Joshua are all doing well - but very exhausted! She's only had a few hours of sleep since she got up Saturday morning, and was very hungry since she hadn't eaten in over 36 hours. She will be in the hospital until at least Wednesday, maybe Thursday.
I was able to go by and visit her a little while this evening, and get some pictures of the happy family. Please continue to pray for them.
