Church Work Day

Little Union has been blessed to own 9 acres of land, upon which our church building and lunchroom sits. About 13 years ago, they were able to build a brand new, much larger building. So we have a very nice property with a very nice facility and the grave yard in the back. As might be imagined this takes work to maintain. On Mondays, some of the sisters get together and spend about 2 hours cleaning the building and then we often go and eat lunch together, we also have Outside Clean Up Days as needed. In two weekends we will be having our November meeting, and this coming February we will be hosting the Florida Fellowship Meeting. Since the hotest weather is finally past us, we got together this weekend for a Work Day.Some got there around 8 to start working, but Gary and I got there much later, we had lunch around 1, and the last of us left around 4 or 4:30. We cleaned up all the moss on the grounds and fence line: ripped up, replanted, and mulched several flowerbeds, did a deep clean inside the buildings, and pressure washed most of the building and sidewalks. We still have some more work that we want to do before February: pour some more handicap parking spaces and sidewalks, redo the remaining flowerbeds, repaint the outside and the sancuary, and get our sign pressure washed; but over all we did alot and made great progress!
No one wanted to let me work, apparently being pregnant makes you an invalid, BUT I got sneaky and just stayed away from Mom (who kept taking away my rake). It was such nice weather outside, and raking is such an enjoyable chore, especially when mulching, who could resist! During lunch and after we were finished we sat around inside and out and visited, as the last of the moss was blown off the roof and the last of the sidewalks were pressure washed.
